Dam Area Resettlement

According to the feasible report of the TGP,the total land for the Dam area resettlement is about 15.277km² ,involving parts of Yichang City,2 counties and 4 towns in Zigui,2 resident communities,21 villages,one fishery team and 94 village groups.12,353 people need to be resettled, 53,200 m² houses will be demolished and rebuilt,26,765 Mu (approximate 1,784 hectares) land of various kinds will be taken over by the government to meet the need of the project.

From 1992 to 1994 in Yichang, 25,546 Mu(1,703 hectares) of land was vacated and the moving of the migrants of the dam area was completed one year ahead of schedule which ensured the formal start of the Three Gorges Project carried out on December 14th ,1994 ,to go smoothly.
