Yichang's urban construction has entered its prime time.Institutions and facilities are improving day by day to get perfected.Here are lots of libraries, stadiums, juvenile centres, cinemas and other public establishments.

All towns in Yichang are connected with high ways and 98% of them provide coach services.Yichang-Huangshi Expressway was open to traffic in October ,1995.It right extends to the Three Gorges Dam area.In the downtown reconstruction,the extension projects of Yigu Road,Yemingzhu Road,Zhengzhu Road, Kangzhuang Road and Xiling 1st Road were completed.The electric cables along the four main roads in the city proper were all embedded underground.The Xiling Bridge was open to traffic on August 10,1996. Yiling Yangtze Bridge and Yunji Tunnel were completed in 2001 and 2000 respectively. The municipal construction bureau raised RMB18 million yuan (USD 2.17 million) to build up Yiling Square,which was opened to the public on October 28,1997. The Memorial Hall for the Revolutionary Martyrs was completed and opened on August 1st, 1998.

International Trade Centre,Three Gorges Trade City, Jiuzhou Shopping Plaza,Commodity Supply and Market Building are newly built. In one word, Yichang is becoming a great place to work and live in.

With the construction of the global super project, the Three Gorges Project,Yichang has become a focus of the worldwide attention.Facing both opportunities and challenges,Yichang will be built into an international modernized city characterized by hydroelectricity and tourism.
