Former British Prime
Minister James Callaghan visited the Three Gorges
On May 17 to 18,1980,James Callaghan and his wife with 14
followers including Ronald Hayward,the General Secretary of the
Labor Party,accompanied by Song Zhiguang, Assistant Minister of
the Ministry of Foreign Affairs,visited the Yangtze Three Gorges.

Former Singapore Prime Minister Lee Kwan Yew visited the Three
Gorges
On November 17,1980,Lee Kwan Yew,the Prime Minister of Singapore
and his wife with Rajaratnam,the Second Vice-Prime-Minister,altogether
44 people,accompanied by Han Nianlong,the Vice-Minister of the
Ministry of Foreign Affairs,visited the Three Gorges by ship.

Former American President Gerald Rudolph Ford visited the Three
Gorges
On March 16,1981,former US President Gerald Rudolph Ford,viewed
the sights of the Three Gorges by the ship,"Dongfanghong
No.49",downstream from Chongqing to Yichang.Welcomed by the
leaders of Yichang Government,they arrived at Yichang at 2:30
p.m.After a half day's visit to Yichang they flied to Wuhan.

Former Secretary-General of United Nations Kurt Waldheim visited
the Three Gorges
From June 13 to 14,1981,Kurt Waldheim with his wife and Bi
Jilong,Under-secretary-General,and other ten people,accompanied by
Li Qing,the Representative of China in the United Nations visited
the Yangtze Three Gorges by ship.

Prince Herrick of Denmark visited the Three Gorges
Prince Herrick,accompanied by three people,visited the Yangtze
Three Gorges by ship,"Jiangyu No.4" from May 15 to 16,1985.

Chairman of the South Africa Progressive Federate Party Kelin
Egreen visited Yichang
From September 30 to October 2,1988,Kelin Egreen,Chairman of the
South Africa Progressive Federate Party and member of a
legislative assembly,visited Yichang.They saw and understood the
citizens' inhabiting and living conditions,historical interest of
Yichang,women and children's health protection,the education in
middle schools and primary schools and visited the Minor Three
Gorges.Kelin Egreen publicized China actively after he returned to
the South Africa,letting the world get a clear and true picture of
China.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Nakasone Yasuhiro visited the Three
Gorges
Nakasone Yasuhiro,the former Japanese Prime Minister,was invited
to attend the reception celebration of the twentieth anniversary
of the normalization of diplomatic relations between China and
Japan.Thereafter he came and visited the Yangtze Three Gorges.
During his visit,Nakasone Yasuhiro was full of zest and wrote an
inscription of four Chinese characters meaning "Unique Scenery in
the World" to praise the beauty of the Minor Three Gorges.
Nakasone Yasuhiro and his companions also visited Yichang.They
visited the Gezhouba Dam and the power plant on the main river
channel.While listening to the introduction,Nakasone Yasuhiro
nodded frequently and asked lots of questions about the design of
the Three Gorges Project,especially about the migrants
resettlement.After hearing the satisfactory answers,he applauded
to express his thanks.

Former Japanese Prime Minister Kaifu Toshiki visited Yichang
On May 2,1993,Kaifu Toshiki,former Japanese Primer Minister,with
other eight people, accompanied by the leader of the Association
of Friendship Between China and Japan,visited Yichang by a tourist
ship named "Star of Yangtze". They visited Gezhouba Project
Bureau, Gezhouba Power Plant,the shiplocks,the Three Gorges
Project Corporation,the Research Institute of Chinese Sturgeon and
a scenic spot,the Three Visitors' Cave.
Kaifu Toshiki listened,asked and put down notes while visiting.He
appeared happy and excited.He climbed up the Chusai Tower to get a
bird view of the great Nanjing Pass.Watching the Yangtze water, he
got relaxed.He then wrote four Chinese characters,meaning "It's
marvelous to overlook the gigantic dam" to express his high
spirit.

American Dr.Henry Alfred Kissinger inspected the Three Gorges
On september 11,1996,American Dr.Henry Alfred Kissinger and 7
other people inspected the worksite of the TGP.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Peru Moreno visited
the Three Gorges Project
From October 12 to 13,1996,Moreno,General Secretary of the
Communist Party of Peru,and 2 other people visited Yichang City,
the TGP and Gezhouba Power Plant.
On April 22nd,2002, parliament leaders of 18 countries planted 18
"Three Gorges" fir which symbolizes peace and friendship in
Yichang World Park after their attendance of the 3rd Annual
Meeting of Asia Parliament Association. Later,they visited the
Three Gorges Project.
